We offer a service for those who wish to have a cremation without a service that we refer to as a simple cremation. On a basic level this means picking up the person from where they have died (home, hospice, hospital, rest home) and transporting them back to our premises. We meet with the family to do the documentation that is required for a cremation, apply for permission to cremate from our local medical referee, and book the cremation. We generally use a very simple pine casket for this option and organize the cremation for within a day or two of the death.
We do, however, encourage families to be involved in this process. If they would like to visit their person, help us dress them, or accompany us to the crematorium to help hand over their loved one to the crematorium staff, we welcome that involvement.
Simple burials are for those who would wish to have a burial without a service. In the same way as a simple cremation we would pick up the person from where they have died (home, hospice, hospital, rest home) and transporting them back to our premises. We generally use a very simple pine casket for this option and organize the burial for within a day or two of the death.
We do, however, encourage families to be involved in this process. If they would like to visit their person or help us dress them, family members are welcome.
Although there are various reasons for families to choose these options such as financial considerations, families living a long distance away, or other competing family occasions, we do encourage families to still have a time together in the future where they can share stories and focus on the life of the person who has died.
